FP Trainings
Scale-up FP/PAC services conducted through primary health care practitioner trainings
According to the scope of proposed activities SUSTAIN project is providing clinical trainings to health care providers in different regions of Georgia.
Trainings are delivered by SUSTAIN as program activities as well as by local NGOs through small grants By the end of September 2010, FP/PAC training activities proposed in the Project Year One work plan have been accomplished.
SUSTAIN Partner organization HERA completed the proposed number of FP/PAC trainings for Primary Health Care providers in Samtskhe-Javakheti Region.
In total, eight trainings have been conducted by HERA in abovementioned region: four for doctors and four for nurses. In September, HERA conducted the workshop to summarize FP training activities in Samtskhe-Javakheti region. The trainings results, problems encountered, the lessons learned and the future plans have been discussed during the meeting.
In addition, four FP/PAC trainings have been conducted by SUSTAIN in Samtskhe-javakheti and Ajara Regions.
Overall, 231 health care providers were trained in FP/PAC according to the national guidelines by SUSTAIN and its partner organization HERA during the first year of the project. Of those trained providers, 55 were Primary Health Care Physicians, 58 – Ob/Gyns, 39 – midwifes, and 79 - nurses.
