About Us

John Snow, Inc. (JSI) a Boston-based public health and development management consulting firm implements the Sustain project which assists the funding organization, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), to achieve its health objectives of catalyzing improvement of social and health services in target areas. USAID Sustain project is a five-year project, which started in October 2009.

JSI’s vision of Sustain is to advance Georgia toward a goal of countrywide access to and utilization of modern, evidence-based and family-friendly maternity care and family planning by simultaneously expanding private sector partnerships; encouraging sustainable, affordable financing mechanisms (insurance coverage); institutionalizing evidence-based RH care (public and private clinics, maternities); reforming pre-service training (for doctors, midwives); and creating educated reproductive health consumers.

The project has the following four strategic objectives:

  • Launch new private sector led service delivery, health insurance and product specific social marketing models for FP/MCH services.

  • Building strong commercial sector distribution of contraceptives and public/ private partnerships to finance BCC campaigns

  • Catalyzing the Georgian health insurance sector to become the vanguards of FP/MCH services

  • Incorporating FP/RH modules and practicum into medical and nursing school curriculum.
